Draft — pending legal review
This notice describes what we actually do, but it has not yet been reviewed by a legal adviser and the Business Registration Number is still to be added. Remove this box once both are done.
This notice explains what personal data we collect through clarix.mu, why we hold it, who else sees it and what you can do about it. It is written to meet our obligations as a controller under the Mauritian Data Protection Act 2017.
Last updated 28 July 2026.
Who we are
This site is operated by ClarixConsulting Ltd, a private company limited by shares, incorporated in Mauritius on 28 July 2026 under company number 237471, and trading as Clarix.
- Registered office: Ave Astrolabe, Albion, Republic of Mauritius

We are the data controller for the personal data described below. For any question about this notice, or to exercise any of the rights set out further down, write to hello@clarix.mu.
What we collect, and why
We collect only what you choose to send us. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and this site sets no cookies of its own.
The contact form
Name, company, email address, telephone number, the nature of your enquiry and your message. We use it to reply to you, to prepare a proposal if you ask for one, and to keep a record of our correspondence. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who approach us about our services, and, where it leads to an engagement, the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
The newsletter
Your email address only, and solely to send you new articles. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time, and every email carries an unsubscribe link.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard technical information for every request — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser and referring page. This is a normal part of operating a web server, used to keep the site available and secure. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in the security and reliability of the service.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We do not add contact form submissions to the newsletter — the two are separate systems, and subscribing is always a deliberate, separate act. We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you.
Who else processes it
We keep the number of third parties deliberately small. Each of the following acts as a processor on our behalf, or receives data as a technical necessity of delivering the site:
- Formspree — delivers both form submissions to us by email. It receives everything you type into a form, plus your IP address.
- Hostinger — hosts this website and our email, and generates the server logs described above.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces this site uses. Your browser requests them directly, so Google receives your IP address and basic request information when a page loads.
- OpenStreetMap — provides the map on our contact page. It receives your IP address when that one page loads, and only that page. We use it rather than a commercial mapping service because it sets no advertising cookies.
Sending data outside Mauritius
Some of those providers store or process data outside Mauritius, including in the United States and the European Union. Section 36 of the Data Protection Act 2017 permits such a transfer where you have given your consent, or where appropriate safeguards are in place. By submitting a form on this site you consent to your message being transmitted and stored in this way; if you would rather your details did not leave Mauritius, contact us by telephone or by post instead and we will deal with your enquiry that way.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become work — 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted.
- Client correspondence — for the duration of the engagement and 7 years afterwards, to meet accounting and tax record-keeping obligations.
- Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
- Form submissions held by Formspree — 30 days, after which they remain only in our own email records.
- Server logs — retained by our hosting provider under its own schedule, typically a matter of weeks.
Keeping it secure
This site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. Access to the mailboxes holding enquiries is limited to the people at Clarix who need it, and protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication.
Your rights
Under Part VII of the Data Protection Act 2017 you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal data about you, and obtain a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we process it;
- withdraw consent at any time, where our basis for processing is consent.
Write to hello@clarix.mu and we will respond within one month. There is no charge for making a request.
Complaints
If you think we are not meeting our obligations, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain directly to the Data Protection Commissioner, whose office can investigate the matter — see dataprotection.govmu.org.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and the date shown above. Material changes affecting people already on our records will be notified by email.
